CARRABASSETT VALLEY – The University of Maine at Farmington men’s alpine team will return to the USCSA National Championships for the third consecutive year after placing sixth overall at the USCSA Eastern Regional Championships at Sugarloaf this weekend. After finishing seventh overall in the giant slalom on Saturday, the Beavers earned sixth place in the slalom on Sunday.
Due to weather conditions, all skiers were only able to complete one run for scoring purposes instead of the usual two. Farmington was led for the second consecutive day by senior Jacob Roy (Frenchville, Maine). Roy finished his run in 31.72 seconds, placing 10th overall in a highly competitive field.
Junior Lake Lindelof (Belfast, Maine) had a strong run, finishing 21st overall in 32.86 seconds. Senior Colgan O’Keefe (Westchester, N.Y.) was the third Beaver to contribute to the team’s scoring time, finishing in 33.77 seconds to earn 27th place.
Together, Roy, Lindelof, and O’Keefe posted a combined time of 1:38.35, securing sixth place and earning 58 team points.
Lance Dolan (Coplin Plantation, Maine) finished 31st with a run time of 34.10 seconds. Sam Roy (Frenchville, Maine) was disqualified from his run.
The USCSA National Championships are set to begin on March 10th in Bend, Oregon.
